My Personal Style: Statement Belt With Peplum Top June 23 2015, 5 Comments

When in doubt, go for a classic black peplum top end emphasize it even more with a statement belt. It's a classic combo, that always work and looks chic with elegant pants and pencil skirts or jeans. Either way, with  peplum you are ready to rock your busy day.
Peplum is a short overskirt or a ruffle attached around the waistline and it was first introduced by Dior in 1947. Then this shape was forgotten for a couple of decades and now we are witnessing the return of this structured and feminine detail already for a couple of years now. 
Here at The Lie by JPZ we absolutely adore a dramatic waist and peplums are here to celebrate femininity accentuating utterly womanly shape of an hourglass. Peplums are absolutely flattering to any body type if worn right. Both straight and curvy lines can benefit from wearing peplums by letting them either create the illusion of shape, balance out the proportions, or enhance the curves that are already there. 
One of my favourite summer chic combinations for a working day is our peplum tom from SS 2015 Black & White + Red. Simple As That. collection, which I love to embellish with our statement heart belt. Paired with jeans and our straw bag it becomes just the kind of look we love - full of contrast: chic, yet laid back, elegant yet cool and casual.
